Regional Treasurer

We are looking for a Volunteer to take over the role from October 2009, working with the current RT until our financial year end of 31st October 2009.

The job consists of receiving and making payments on behalf of the Region during the year. The RT produces the annual Income and Expenditure statements on behalf of the Region annually in October.

A summary report is prepared for Yoga East. The Treasurer takes an active role in the running of the Region at committee meetings held three times each year in February, June and September.

Anyone who has some financial experience, or who has helped to run a business will be suitable for the role.  Please contact David if you might be interested to find out more.

Contact David on rt.east@bwy.org.uk or 01353 664453

Although most regional roles are unpaid/voluntary there are regional concessions attached to these roles. These have recently been updated and are shown on this site.

Marketing/Publicity Officer

We are also looking for a Volunteer to take on the role of Marketing/Publicity Officer in  Eastern Region on the Regional Committee  with publicity or marketing experience to take on the promotion of British Wheel of Yoga teachers, activities and events in the Eastern Region. Other ways of promoting the Wheel in this area would need to be investigated too.

Could this be you?

We have a wealth of talent and expertise among our members and teachers in the Eastern Region, but we do need to raise the profile of what the BWY has to offer locally!

For further information, please contact Ian Burgess, BWY Regional Officer,

Please contact Ian Burgess[ Regional Officer ] if you might be interested to find out more.

  Yoga Teaching Scams

Be one your guard. There are a number of scam e-mails surfacing on the internet and one regular one is aimed at yoga teachers. The scam usually involves asking for rates for teaching yoga for relatives [usually a son or daughter ~ but it could be anyone ] who are coming to the UK.

If you respond, they then accept your rates and send money order to cover the cost, they usually make a "mistake" and send too much requesting that you send them the surplus back! Needless to say their bank draft looks OK and will be accepted by banks, but will bounce later, by then they hope to have received your refund and cashed it so watch out. You are advised to ignore such requests.

There are many variants on the above, but responding to enquiries

regarding your classes for any 'overseas visitor'  is asking for trouble.

You might ask yourself how someone in Nigeria, Italy, Canada, America, etc, has heard about you.
Are you internationally that well known ?

  Nuisance Phone Calls

From time to time we have had people saying they are getting nuisance phone calls. British Telecom can give you good advice regarding Nuisance Calls on this and offer a service to block such calls ~ the first month is free.
