  1.0 PURPOSE          
                 
   

The purpose of this guideline is to set out the responsibilities and duties of the Regional Editor in connection with  the production of the Region's magazine.

  3.0

PRIME FUNCTION

 
   

       3.1 Tile prime function of the Editor is to collect and collate submitted articles, news, reports and illustrations received from the Region's Officers or membership.

      

      -   Edit copy, correct grammar and prepare layout and paste ups where required. (The Editor reserves the right to either

          amend or return material if riot of suitable quality.)

-   Ensure copy is completed in sufficient time to meet printer's deadline.

-   In the event of a delay for whatever reason the Regional Officer is to be notified.

 
   

 

 

 

 

 

 

 
  4.0

MANDATORY1TEMS

 

 

 

 
   

The following items of business should automatically be included if and when the situation arises.

‑     Diary of Region's events

‑     Publish any, reports or articles received from the Region's Officers.

‑     Publish Regional Congress/AGM dates, including the Region's Year End Accounts as received from the Region's

      Treasurer after the event.

‑     Welcome all new Diploma Holders, D.C.T.s and new Officers through the Magazine.

‑     Nomination Forms for election/re‑election of the Region's Officers.

‑     Retirement of Region's Officers.

‑     Publish items received from other sources which are of importance to the Region's Members.

 
                 
  5.0 STYLE AND CONTENT        
   

Although the style and content of the Regional magazine is left to the discretion of the Editor it should strive to maintain a balance between:

‑ Physical and spiritual needs of the membership.

‑ Advertising and Editorial.

‑ Elementary and in depth subjects.

‑ Executive, Regional and general material.

‑ Individual members' views.

 
                 
  6.0 EDITORIAL DISCRETION        
   

Whilst the Regional magazine should reflect the views and opinions of its members, the Editor reserves the right to refuse material should it be considered libellous or contrary to the spirit of Yoga. Such cases these are to be referred to the Regional Officer.

 
                 
 

7.0

ADVERTISING RATES

 

 

 

 
    Regional Events and all others will be subject to the advertising rates as published in the Region's magazine. Rates will be fixed annually by Regional Committee  
                 
  8.0 FINANCES        
   

8.1   All payments in respect of the production of the regional magazine are sent to the Regional Treasurer for payment.

 
   

8.2   It is the Editors responsibility to review annually printing costs for the printing of the magazine and that they are representative

of the market place. Quotations are to be referred back to the Nov./Dec. Regional Committee Meeting. If th is is not practicable then the Regional Officer/Treasurer must be consulted.

 
   

8.3  The printers will invoice direct to the Regional Treasurer for payment of the magazine.

 
   

 

 

 

 

 

 

 
 

9.0

DISTRIBUTION

 

 

 

 
 

 

9.1  The Editor is responsible for ensuring that the magazine has been distributed to each County Rep. Additional copies are to be sent to other Regional Editors and all members of the Executive Committee.

 
 

 

9.2    The Magazine is produced four times a year.

 
                 
  10.0 COMMUNICATION        
    It is helpful if the Editor maintains regular dialogue with other Regional Editors so that useful exchange of ideas and information may, take place.  
                 
  11.0 GENERAL CORRESPONDENCE        
    The Editor is expected to deal with any correspondence arising from the production of the Magazine.  
                 
  12.0 REGIONAL COMMITTEE MEETINGS        
   

It is hoped the Regional Editor will attend Regional Committee Meetings and submit a brief report on matters pertaining to the publishing of the magazine .
