To develop an interest in Yoga or go on any Yoga
Training Course and not explore and become interested in
Meditation is like taking up medicine and not become interested in
healing. One of the set books on the British Wheel of Yoga Teacher
Training Course is the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. Some regard it as
a two thousand year old coaching manual on meditation. Several
translations are of available all give the translators biases.
"Effortless Being"
by Alistair Shearer is very readable. "How to Know God"
by Prabhavananda & Isherwood is a popular one. "The Yoga Sutras
of Patanjali" by Desikachar is very good honest translation,
written in a nice way and easy to read.. "The Science of
Yoga" by Taimni is generally regarded as being deeper in
content and most scholars regard it as the best that is readily
available. "Textbook of Yoga Psychology" by Ramurti Mishra is also
very good if you can find a copy. Several other translations are
available. |
