Financial Aid Policy – July 2005 |

|
The
region has reviewed its position on the funding of diploma course
students, financial support for DCTs and grants to other miscellaneous
projects promoting the development of yoga in the region. The review
took place in early 2005 and reviewed in June 2007. The policy was
ratified at the regional committee meeting on 16th June 2007. |

Diploma Course Students
|
|
|
|
● |
The
region will not offer grants to prospective diploma course students on
the basis of financial
hardship. Such students will be referred to the Career Development
Loan, administered by the
Learning & Skills Council. They could borrow up to the full cost of
the course via this route. |
|
|
|
● |
Students
who are already on a diploma course and run into financial hardship,
leading to the risk of
dropping out, will be offered a one-off grant from the region of £300.
The region will need proof
of financial status in such a case. |
|
|
|
● |
DCTs
will be encouraged to offer their own concessions to students on very
low incomes – such as
staged payments of fees or reduced fees. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|

|
Diploma Course Tutors (DCTs) |
|
|
|
● |
The region will continue to fund one third of the costs
of DCT Training – not means tested. |
|
|
|
● |
Qualified DCTs will receive 50% of the cost of DCT
weekend (compulsory in-service training). Reasonable requests for
travel costs to the weekend will be paid. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Other requests for help to promote yoga in the region
|
|
|
|
The
region will consider any request for funding of worthy causes on a case
by case basis. Detailed proposals from claimant required. |
|
|
|
|
|

FINANCIAL PLANNING
|
|
|
|
The Regional Treasurer will budget for these costs in the
following way |
|
|
|
● |
£500 per year for diploma course students’ emergency fund
and other requests.. |
|
|
|
● |
£500 for DCT training and weekend. |
|
|
|
● |
If and when the fund runs out, it is not anticipated that
more will be made available except in exceptional circumstances. |
|
